What drives the cost up or down

Booth type

Standard is cheapest. Mirror and 360 are mid-range. Large-format mirror and iPad with signage are premium. The booth type difference accounts for $50-$1,400 in price spread.

Hours of service

Most packages start at 3 hours. Each additional hour is typically $100-$150. A standard 4-hour wedding rental lands around $550-$650; a 6-hour gala runs $750-$850.

Event day and season

Saturdays in peak wedding season (May-October) book out months in advance and don't discount. Weekday and off-season events have more pricing flexibility.

Custom backdrops and props

Standard backdrop options are included. Custom step-and-repeat with logos: $150-$300. Custom floral wall: $950-$1,550. Premium prop kits matched to a theme: $50-$150.

Travel

Travel is included for events in San Diego County. Orange County and Riverside add a small travel fee. LA County events add a larger fee. We quote it transparently in the package.

Branded prints and customization

Logo on the print template: included. Custom print design and color matching: $50-$150 setup fee. Custom video overlay for 360 booth: $100-$200.

The San Diego market range

Across San Diego, photo booth rentals range from $440 (bare-bones, no attendant, 2-hour) to $2,500+ (premium 360 + mirror combo with custom branding for a 6-hour gala). Most weddings book between $550 and $1,200 total.

Hidden fees to watch for

  • Setup/breakdown fees — some vendors charge $100-$200 extra. Ours are included.

  • Idle hours — if you want the booth set up for cocktail hour but not running, some vendors charge per idle hour. We don't.

  • Digital gallery fee — some vendors charge $50-$150 to deliver the online gallery. Always included with us.

  • Print template design fee — basic templates included; only custom logo work has a setup cost.

  • Travel fees — make sure they're in the upfront quote, not added later

  • Overtime — clarify the per-hour overtime rate before you book

How to maximize value

  1. Book early — peak Saturdays sell out 4-6 months ahead. Earlier booking = better prices and date availability.

  2. Bundle services — pairing a photo booth with our wedding backdrop rentals or snack carts gets a multi-service discount.

  3. Ask about discounts — active-duty military weddings get a free photo booth (up to 10/year). K-12 school events get up to $200 off. Nonprofits and 501(c)(3)s get reduced rates.

  4. Pick the booth type that fits your event size — don't pay for premium if a standard booth handles the crowd

  5. Use the referral program — refer another event and get loyalty points toward future bookings or merchandise

FAQs

Why are some photo booth rentals so cheap?

Sub-$300 photo booths are usually selfie-station only — no attendant, basic camera, generic backdrop, limited prints. Fine for casual house parties. Not the right call for weddings or corporate events where the booth needs to look produced and the line needs to move.

What's actually included in the $450 starting rate?

Three hours of attended service, unlimited prints (4x6 or strip), all backdrop and prop options, digital sharing (QR/text/email), online gallery delivered within 48 hours, setup, and breakdown. Nothing extra to add for a standard event.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes — typically 25-50% to reserve the date, balance due before the event. Specific terms are in your booking contract.
